Dr. Elizabeth Self Burckardt is from Louisville and attended Sacred Heart Academy. She graduated with honors from the University of Louisville with both her undergraduate and medical school degrees. During medical school, she has inducted into the Gold Humanism Society as well as the AOA Honor Medical Society. She went on to complete her residency training at the University of Louisville. After finishing residency, she completed a fellowship in Laryngeal Surgery through Harvard Medical School at the prestigious ​Massachusetts General Hospital Center for Laryngeal Surgery and Voice Rehabilitation with world-renowned and celebrity voice surgeon, Dr. Steven Zeitels.


She is an otolaryngologist but specializes in surgical and medical treatment of voice, airway, and swallowing disorders. She is one of the few laryngeal-trained specialists in the country and is happy to be a part of Kentuckiana Ear, Nose & Throat. She is published in numerous Otolaryngology journals and gives lectures on novel techniques and procedures in laryngology. She and her husband, Dr. Kenneth Burckardt, have two daughters.
